Martin Millers (40%) – Martin Miller’s Gin is distilled in pot stills and shipped to Iceland, where it is mixed with Icelandic spring water. It is flavoured with Tuscan juniper, cassia back, angelica, Florentine orris, coriander, Seville citrus peel, nutmeg,cinnamon and liquorice root. Spicier than some, though refreshing citrus keeps it from going overboard.
Tanqueray 10 (43.7%) – An incredible small batch London Dry Gin made in pot still number 10. Tanqueray Number 10 is citrussy and full bodied.
Sipsmith London Dry (41.6%) – Sipsmith London Dry Gin is distilled with 10 botanicals carefully selected for an even drier balance than a classic. London Dry Gin. Produced in the workshop previously used by the late, great Michael Jackson (whisky writer, not Moonwalker), this super-small-batch artisinal Gin is flavoured with restraint, making it easier for the natural quality of the spirit to shine through. Distilled in a marvellously compact pot still named Prudence, Sipsmith epitomises distilling on a truly artisinal scale. At the time of her installation, Prudence was the first copper pot still to be brought to life in London for over 200 years.
Fruit and Flavoured Gins
Plymouth Sloe (26%) – This is made by steeping sloe berries in Plymouth Gin and then blending it with Dartmouth water. A great, crisp and fruity sloe Gin from Plymouth.
Edinburgh Raspberry (20%) – A fruity liqueur handmade in the heart of Scotland by infusing our award-winning Edinburgh Gin with a mixture of juicy Perthshire Raspberries and cane sugar. Magical added to fizz – alcoholic or not!
Edinburgh Rhubarb & Ginger (20%) – Tangy spring crop Rhubarb macerated with oriental ginger and lemon zest is infused into Edinburgh Gin to create a nostalgia-indusing, rose-hued tipple, perfect for summer cocktails or as a winter warmer.
Gabriel Boudier Saffron (40%) – Saffron Gin is a unique recipe discovered in the archives of France’s colonial past when England and France both claimed India as their jewel and Gin rich in exotic botanicals was the fashion. This handcrafted, small batch pot distilled Gin is made from the finest natural botanicals, in addition to the Saffron which gives a delicately spicycharacter, the recipe has Juniper, Coriander, Lemon, Orange peel, Angelica seeds, Iris and Fennel, creating one of the most complex and memorable Gins distilled today.
“Secret Ingredient” and Craft Gins
Hendricks (41.4%) – Hendrick’s is handcrafted in Scotland, using the highest quality neutral grain spirit distilled through two different types of still for a unique blend of floral notes and depth or character taking from eleven different botanicals and a delightfully peculiar infusion of rose petals and most unusually cucumber.
Monkey 47 (47%) – An unusual Gin from the Black Forest (Germany), Monkey 47 contains a unique ingredient – No, not that! Cranberries! The 47 comes from the number of botanicals that go into this unique Gin, and the fact it’s bottled at a healthy 47%. This plethora of ingredients has paid off, and in 2011 Monkey 47 won the World Spirits Award (Gold) in the Gin category and Gold for best in class for the Gin Worldwide at the International Wine and Spirits competition in London. Not bad!
Gin Sul Dry/Handcrafted (43%) – German Gin made in Hamburg (Germany) that spends it’s days dreaming of the Algarve, where the lemons used in its production are grown. Mediterranean florals are also used in this ‘nostalgic’ (a loose translation of the Portuguese “Saudade”)gin, presented in a rather handsome opaque bottle.
Tarquins Cornish Dry (42%) – An exotic, world spanning botanical basket makes Tarquin’s Gin. Orris root from Morocco, green cardamom seeds from Guatemala, cinnamon from Madagascar and Devon violets from… Well, from the distiller’s garden in Cornwall. Southwestern Distillery produce small batches of their artisan Tarquin’s Gin using their flame-fired copper pot still called Tamara, goddess of the Tamar. It’s then bottled by hand and sent off into the world, to spread the news that Cornwall is producing some fabulous gin.
Rock Rose (41.5%) – Rock Rose Gin is made at the Dunnet Bay Distillery all the way up in Caithness, Scotland. This very northerly Gin features an alluring botanical selection including locally harvested Rhodiola Rosea, Rowan berries, Sea Buckthorn, Blaeberries, Verbena, Coriander seeds, Cardamon and Juniper from two different countries – Italy and Bulgaria. They use a traditional copper pot still, which of course has a name (it’s Elizabeth).
Alkkemist Spa (40%) – Alkkemist Gin features a base of triple-distilled grain spirit and 21 different botanicals, interestingly including Muscat grape, alongside orange and lemon peel, rose petals, samphire, fennel, thyme and mint, among others. Also, it’s apparently “distilled by the light of the moon”! A wonderfully-presented gin that works excellently in a G&T as well as a number of cocktails.
Gin Mare (42.7%) – A fabulous Spanish Gin inspired by Mediterranean flavours, Gin Mare is made with botanicals including arbequina olive, rosemary, thyme,basil and mandarin. The result is a fabulous spirit which has been much praised by critics.
Plymouth () – Plymouth Gin can only by made in Plymouth. This is a pot still Gin, vote the Best Gin in the BBC Good Food Magazine.
Plymouth Naval Strenght (57%) – Plymouth Navy Strength Gin is made the same way as Plymouth Gin with the same combinations of botanicals distilled in a copped pot still with neutral grain spirit. It is then bottled at a heavyweight 57% abv (114 proof). Plymouth Navy Strenght is steeped in the tradition of the British Royal Navy who were Plymouth Gin’s biggest customers in the eighteenth century since neighbouring Devonport was a Royal Navy Base. No Navy ship ever left port without Plymouth Gin aboard.
